A Curated Cellar is more than storage—it’s a setting where craft, place, and memory come together. Designing one is not unlike the making of wine itself: part artistry, part technical mastery. Just as vintners understand that it is never only about the grapes, we know it is never only about the bottles. It is about the people who gather, the stories shared, and the atmosphere that heightens each pour.

At b Architecture, every cellar is tailored to both collection and collector. The architecture frames the wine, but also the experience—whether a quiet tasting at the end of the day or a lively evening with friends. Climate and light, wood and stone, proportion and detail are orchestrated with the same care a vintner gives to soil and season, creating a space that feels inevitable, as though it was always meant to be there.

Our Process

1. Discover the Story: Every collection begins with a story. We listen to how wine became part of your life—travel, family traditions, favorite vintages—and what you envision for the cellar.

2. Understand the Collection: We take stock of what needs to be housed and protected: from everyday bottles to rare vintages, magnums to cases. The scale and character of the collection guide the design.

3. Define the Atmosphere: Is the cellar intimate and contemplative, or a social space for lively tastings? We capture the mood you want—quiet retreat, entertaining lounge, or both—and how it connects to the home.

4. Collaborate with Experts: We work with the right partners—wine preservation specialists, lighting designers, climate-control engineers—to protect your collection while elevating the experience.

5. Conceptualize the Design: With vision and parameters aligned, we develop the first concept. Materials, proportion, and flow are tuned to echo the feeling of a vineyard or a gallery.

6. Build the Team: We assemble builders, craftspeople, and fabricators who can realize the vision with precision. Budgets and logistics are clarified early.

7. Draw the Details: Joinery, shelving, stonework, lighting—all documented with the same care as any fine architecture. Every detail supports preservation and presentation.

8. Execute the Design: We remain hands-on through construction, ensuring the finished cellar reflects the original vision—an environment that both safeguards and celebrates your collection.
